Artist Statement

Physical form creates metaphysical space. Through heat, methodology, and intuition, I transform polymethyl methacrylate from the planar to the dimensional. Fired to softness yet retaining its rigidity, the material becomes a uniquely versatile medium - neither stretching like molten glass nor folding like delicate paper. Balancing the tension between density, structure, and temperature, I find fulfillment through form-making.

My process is a study in volumetric foldism - inventing quasi-origamic manipulations that generate figures, folds, and flows. Each work explores the balance between control and release, between the designed and the discovered. Happy accidents are celebrated as opportunities. The resulting forms range from Quatras and Clovers to Lotus and Blaze - coined names that embody their bespoke individuality.

I am drawn to the quiet fulfillment that occurs when a form becomes self-standing. These figures, caught between stillness and movement, carry the memory of motion - the pushing and pulling of peaks and ridges frozen in time. Sometimes mounted on the wall, they gaze back. Their ripples defy alignment, refusing the discipline of straight lines within built space.

My work is a meditation on figural representation and truth-seeking fulfillment - on the moment where material presence becomes a mirror for being.

Fo Guang Shan Temple Art Salon

Fo Guang Shan, the largest Buddhist temple in Auckland, hosts annual exhibitions for local artists. Logan Bow has exhibited in the temple’s gallery since last year, including a live demonstration of his Blooms Series.

Logan also went to their headquarters in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, where his red bloom has been sealed underneath the Fo Guang Shan underground palace.

"I am honoured that one of my Red Bloom sculptures will be enshrined in the Fo Guang Shan Underground Palace. What began as a gift to the venerables, in gratitude for their generous welcome, has now found a sacred resting place. I am deeply moved to know that my sculpture will be sealed for 2,000 years, to be reopened in a world far different from our own."
